Subacute Rehabilitation Care
The Methodist Home’s subacute rehabilitation program offers an expanded level of service to patients in need of short-term rehabilitation care before returning home. See our Rehabilitation Center section for more details.
Who Can Benefit
Generally, individuals in need of short-term rehabilitation, who are medically stable,
motivated to participate, and ready to achieve their rehabilitation goals within a relatively short time, are candidates for the Home’s subacute program. Patients typically are admitted directly from an acute care hospital once their condition has stabilized.
The Methodist Home treatment team is always committed to restoring maximum functioning in the shortest period of time. Treatment goals may include walking, climbing stairs independently, managing daily routines, such as bathing and dressing, transfer techniques, such as getting in and out of bed, and regaining strength and endurance.
The Methodist Home provides:
- Post Surgical Care
- Wound Care
- Respiratory/Tracheostomy Care
- Pain Management
- IV Therapy/IV Antibiotics
- Rehabilitation Therapy
- Therapeutic Recreation
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Social Work Counseling
A smooth transition from the residence to the patient’s own home is always our objective. Our social work team is ready to assist in arranging for home evaluation, home care and other community services as needed.
Respite Care
The Methodist Home offers a beautifully decorated private room and bath reserved for care of adults who need round-the-clock skilled nursing for a short period of time (from one to forty-five days in one year).
Respite care stays benefit guests with a warm, caring environment, and give the caregiver needed time to tend to his or her own life, family or business. Individual medical needs are addressed by the Home's professional staff, and a care plan created, which may include physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and other services.
A Respite Care guest must:
- Be an adult
- Be under a physician's care for chronic or acute medical illness
- Be medically stable and free of infectious disease
- Provide a current medical history and results of a recent medical exam.
Payment: All services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most managed care contracts, including Aetna, GHI, WellCare and HealthFirst. We also accept private pay.
Because of our exceptional accommodations and services, the Home sometimes has a waiting list for respite care stays. If it is necessary for you to place your loved one in another facility, we will make arrangements to have them transferred to us when a vacancy is available.
Reservations are required for Respite Care stays.
