We are always striving for new and creative ways to provide a dignified life in a secure, warm and stimulating environment for people suffering from Alzheimer’s, as well as Dementia. The Methodist Home brings together personalized programs with a highly trained staff, led by a specially trained director, that enable residents to realize greater enjoyment in daily living.
The Home’s Dementia Program staff is interdisciplinary and includes an Activities Director, as well as nurses, nurse assistants, a dietician, social worker and rehabilitation specialists.
Experienced staff members provide personal, one-on-one support during the first few weeks following admission to ensure a smooth transition for residents to their new environment, and to address issues in a timely manner.
Throughout the year, our staff works to develop a close rapport with residents to encourage them to participate in a wide range of daily activities from sensory stimulation to cognitive games to dancing and music therapies.
Staff members are specially trained to ensure residents’ comfort and offer increased support to family and friends as the disease progresses.
Palliative Care
Compassionate End-of-Life Care
Sometimes residents are faced with medical situations in which a cure is not an option. The Methodist Home provides a Palliative Care program that enhances comfort as well as an individual ’s experience during this time.
Why Palliative Care?
Unique physical, emotional, spiritual, social and financial needs occur during the final phases of life. An interdisciplinary team gives patients and their families care that alleviates suffering and promotes the highest quality of life possible. Major concerns are pain and symptom management, information sharing and advance care planning, psychosocial and spiritual support, and coordination of care.
The Methodist Home is one of the few skilled nursing facilities in New York City to offer palliative care. To discuss a referral, obtain additional information, or arrange for a tour, please contact the Director of Admissions at 718-548-5100 ext. 224.
All services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most managed care contracts, including Aetna, GHI, WellCare and HealthFirst. We also accept private pay.
